Meeting your family's needs while
building a better life can be hard.
The Salvation Army helps navigate
challenges on the path to a brighter future.

Based on the official Point in Time Homeless Count from 2023, 3,720 people were experiencing homelessness across Miami-Dade County, a 4% increase over 2022. The Salvation Army of Miami provides vital programs to help clients experiencing homeless to identify solutions for lasting self-sufficiency.

We offer various programs that include:

  • Emergency Shelter: The Center of Hope 258- bed emergency shelter provides each client with a clean bed and bath, three hot daily meals and access to on-site health care. Each guest receives one-on-one case management biweekly to work towards goals to increase income, secure affordable housing and access community services. Clients include individuals, families with minor children, veterans, people with HIV/AIDS and those directly discharged from the hospital.  The 34,000 square foot facility features two computer labs, tv lounges, chapel and 24-hour security, creating an inspiring space for renewal and recovery.
  • Open Door Shelter: While most individuals and families enter the shelter through the Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust or another referral partner, a limited number of beds are available for walk-in clients.
  • Rapid Rehousing: The housing specialist helps clients navigate the various options and application process for the most feasible pathway to secure permanent affordable housing whether at market rate or a section 8 voucher.
