Food Assistance

In Miami-Dade County nearly 280,000 residents suffer from food insecurity according to Feeding America. The United Way ALICE report reveals that nearly half a million households in Miami-Dade are either in or one emergency away from falling into poverty.

To give these community residents a consistent source of healthy food, The Salvation Army of Miami distributes over 500 grocery bag meals a week packed with fresh produce and shelf-stable items at the Center of Hope in Allapattah, Citadel Corps in Little Havana and Sunset Corps in Kendall plus over 100 bags biweekly at Miami North Corps in Little Haiti.

The food distribution program receives weekly food donations through Farm Share and Feeding South Florida and annually from Publix Super Markets. In 2023 we gave away 630,930 grocery bag meals.
